Preconditioning of Iterative Methods, Theory and Applications (PIM 2013)

How to Get to the Conference Venue

From Václav Havel Airport Prague

The Prague airport is located about 15 km/9 miles from the city center. The bus ride from the airport to Dejvická Bus Stop takes about 22-24 minutes (if traffic is not heavy).

By bus No. 119

It is recommended to buy a single-trip 30-minute (CZK 24) or 90-minute (CZK 32) ticket or a short-term tourist pass before the ride, though, if necessary, you can buy a 90-minute ticket directly from the bus driver for CZK 40; Prague Public Transport Tickets provides details on how to buy and validate the tickets.

Participants from the non-Schengen zone can depart from Terminál 1 Bus Stop near the main entrance to the Airport Terminál 1 building (see the left image below). Schengen zone participants should use Terminál 2 Bus Stop just in front of the main entrance to the Airport Terminál 2 building (see the right image below).

After boarding the bus, do not forget to validate your ticket; see Prague Public Transport Tickets for details.

Bus No. 119 connects Václav Havel Airport Prague and Dejvická Bus Stop next to Dejvická Metro Station. Dejvická is the terminus stop of the route.

From Dejvická Bus Stop (see point A on the picture or the green flag on the map) continue by foot. Cross Evropská Street (point B), or use the pedestrian underpass, and continue either to the left or to the right; see the red line on the maps below. After 7-9 minutes, you will arrive at the building of the Faculty of Civil Engineering; see the red flag on the maps.

By Airport Express

This bus route coincides with the route 119, but the time is 2 minutes less due to a reduced number of stops, and, moreover, Dejvická is not the terminus stop.

Get on the bus and buy an airport-to-Dejvická ticket from the driver (CZK 40). Public transport tickets are not valid in AE!!

If more information is needed, see the Czech Railways website.

By taxi

Although tourists should be vigilant when using taxi services in Prague, the reputation of AAA Radiotaxi seems to be not bad. You will find the yellow “AAA” cabs directly in front of the arrival halls of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. It is good to know that each registered cab displays the price information and the driver’s name and registration number on the exterior of the driver-side door. The price of a ride from Václav Havel Airport Prague to Thákurova Street (conference venue) should not exceed CZK 500 (USD 25).

From Prague Main Railway Station (“Praha hl. n.” in train schedules)

By the Prague underground/subway (called “metro” in Prague)

It is sufficient to buy a 30-minute single-trip ticket (CZK 24); Prague Public Transport Tickets provides details on how to buy and validate the tickets. Please remember to validate your ticket before you enter the metro area.

Four metro entrances are located in the railway station main hall (the lower hall); use one of those close to the glass outer wall. This will direct you to the platform served by trains going to Háje terminus station (the other two entrances, close to the upper hall, would lead you to the wrong platform dedicated to the trains heading for Letňany). Ride one stop to Muzeum (1 minute), and change from the Red Line (code name C) to the Green Line (A). The ride to the terminus station Dejvická takes 7 minutes. There are two exits there; it is recommended to use the one next to the head of the train (Šolínova Street Exit). After a 7-minute walk, you will arrive at the main entrance to the FCE building (marked by the red flag on the map below).
